I am currently working as an MLT in the Chemistry With 10 years experience I am able to work effectively and efficiently under no supervision, I am able to serve as a resource to other health care providers. With my experience in leadership, I am an effective trainer and able to make decisions regarding patient samples/testing quickly and effectively.
Previously, while working full-time in the lab I was also part-time Registrar for the NBSMLT, where I worked closely with the Board of Directors, Executive Director, Deputy Registrar, and office administration staff to provide services to our members while maintaining the regulatory function of the society. Some of the items I spearheaded was increased communication with our member and moving the society away from paper registration to an online registration process.
My main management experience comes from Walmart, where I was able to hone my people skills and along with Walmart's management training programs allowed me to learn many of the leadership skills still valued in today’s organizations. I have the people skills which allow me to effectively understand what different people need and I am able to adjust my leadership style as required, this allows me to keep everyone engaged, informed, and motivated. The MBA Degree program included many management, operation, marketing, and strategic courses which allowed me to refresh many of the leadership skills I have learned and used in previous positions.
Now that I have completed my Masters of Business Administration Degree at a high honors level, I am excited to start the next phase of my career. Some of the opportunities I am currently exploring are management, teaching, consulting, and sharing my experiences through this blog.
